Practicum Post 7

I didn't know much about the NRDC at all before I started this project, but I feel like now that the semester is finishing up and the project is coming to an end I can say I've learned a lot. From one aspect, I learned about the many efforts that are in desperate need of our help all over the world, but from another aspect, I have learned about how the success of this organization and website involves many different types of people.

All of the articles, posts, information, etc. that is supplied comes from lawyers, professional environmentalists and scientists. They all have to communicate and come together in order to be most effective. When looking through the website, I found this statement for the way that the NRDC reports their progress..."None of NRDC's work could be accomplished without the support of our dedicated members and donors. These supporters offer wise counsel, provide standing in court, and take to their phones and computers when we need to hold lawmakers accountable. To keep them informed of our progress, we produce annual reports that include updates on each one of our institutional priorities. We also provide up-to-the-minute dispatches on our work through NRDC's Switchboard blog, our magazine OnEarth, and our website."

People use the NRDC website as a resource to become educated on various topics that interest them. The users know that they will get information on ways that they can help and responses to questions that they may have. The NRDC is definitely an organization that people should get involved with so that they can help to make this world a better place....oh, and for all you "How I Met Your Mother" fans out there...Marshall now works for the NRDC!! Just a fun fact! :)
