Mike Fiammetta - Intro

Hey everyone,

I'm a junior majoring in journalism and communication arts. I've wanted to be a sports writer for as long as I can remember, so this class fits pretty well with that. I work at The Badger Herald as Sports Content Editor covering football and men's basketball, so that keeps me pretty busy.

Outside of that, I'm from Goldens Bridge, NY, which is also in Westchester County about an hour north of the city. I'm a diehard Giants and Yankees fan, but I definitely love everything about the Badgers and UW. I love music, and I'll listen to pretty much anything except country. I'm big on classic rock, especially the Stones, Beatles and Led Zeppelin, and for modern music, I love the Black Keys. I also listen to a lot of Kanye West, Jay-Z, etc.

I'm definitely looking forward to this class; it doesn't sound like any other I've taken so far. I'm hoping the practicum project will open my eyes to new stuff on the Internet, and I hope what I learn carries over not only to my career goals but also my personal life.

Introduction

Hey everybody, my name is Bert and I'm a Junior studying in the Communication Arts department. I'm from Chicago, but have also lived in New York and Los Angeles. Currently I'm interested in film and media production but also intrigued in other fields of study as well. I'm not quite sure what exactly I want to do after college, but I think that's probably a good thing. I decided to take this course not only because it seemed like it would broaden my knowledge about the internet but also because it is field of study that is constantly changing and evolving. Like others have said, I wouldn't consider myself particularly tech savvy however I'm really looking forward to learning more about this subject. Being a second semester Junior I'm starting to realize that the rest of my time in college may go faster than I expect, so I look forward to taking this class and to continue avoiding the real world.

Hey,

My name is Derreck Krause and I am in my last semester! I am originally from Milwaukee, WI and chose to go to school here because of the outstanding reputation this university had, both in the classroom and out. A little about myself: I have a wonderful girlfriend named Jackie, I currently work at Jordan's Big 10 Pub on Regent St., and am a huge Packer fan so I am pumped about them making it to the Superbowl this year. Outside of the classroom, my hobbies include: playing sports, exercising, watching movies, hanging out with my friends and going to the bars, relaxing, and reading a good book. All in all, I would say that I am a pretty normal individual who has an interest in many different things.

Introduction

Hey, I am Amanda I was born and raised in North Potomac, Maryland about 30 miles outside of Washington DC. Growing up I always wanted to come to UW and I love being a Badger. I am currently a sophomore studying Communication Arts- Rhetorical Studies and Classical Mythology.

A good portion of the day I find myself using the internet, checking my email, browsing Facebook, reading the newspaper, and watching TV shows that I have missed. Aside from the internet I enjoy playing field hockey, running, reading and eating. I love to run on the Capital City trail in Madison and my favorite books are Help by Kathryn Stockett and Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult.

Hello!

Hey everyone. My name is Liz and I'm from Appleton, Wisconsin. I'm a junior this year and if I ever get moving and start talking to some advisors, I'll be double majoring in Art History and Comm Arts.

I've essentially been addicted to the internet since I created my first yahoo account when I was 10, so this class is going to be perfect for me. Besides mindlessly surfing the web, I love television, traveling, dessert, roller blading, shoes, and YouTube videos of babies laughing.

Time to watch the football game. Go pack go!

Liz - a brunette woman, wearing glasses, in a museum
Hi folks! Thought I'd post a quick introduction while I'm setting up your section blog. I'm Liz, I'm your lecturer, and I'm really excited about teaching this course. I've added some new stuff about social networks, online celebrity, and 4Chan, and I think you'll really like the new practicum project options.

On a more personal note, my research is on internet media and disability, and I like running, lol/cats, watching MTV, and I am totally addicted to my Twitter feed.

See you soon!
