Blog Post #2
After watching the video "History of the Internet," I hope to be much more appreciative of the Internet. When using the Internet, I typically don't think of it as an "invention" because it's been around as long as I can remember. The Internet has been readily available to me since I was young, so I think I kind of take it for granted, rather than thinking about the technology and time required to create it. I've never actually learned about the history of the Internet, so it was very interesting to learn about what kind of technology was needed to get it up and running. It was also amazing to learn about the quick progression of the Internet. It is a technology only 50 years old, and the speed at which the advancements occurred to bring us to where we are today is absolutely incredible. Although I didn't understand all of the technical terms used in the video, I now understand the different technologies needed to create the Internet. It was also interesting to learn why the Internet was actually created. Today, we use the Internet for just about everything and anything, but it was created for defense reasons. It is amazing how different the uses of the Internet are today than they were when it was created. This video was very informative about the creation of the Internet and hopefully now when I wake up and check the weather and my e-mail, I will be a little bit more appreciative of the time invested into the creation of it.
