Hello! My name is Julie and I'm a senior majoring in Communication Arts. I'm from Madison and have lived here all my life, except for last semester when I was studying abroad in Sydney, Australia. While I was there I had an internship for a public relations company that specialized in beauty and fashion. I'm hoping to pursue a career in this field, ideally within beauty or fashion, but I'd be happy just doing PR in general. Growing up in Madison has had it's pros and cons. It's nice to be close to home (and get free meals whenever I want), but after I graduate I'm ready to move on to a bigger (and warmer) city. After studying in Sydney I had my heart set to move there, which I still may end up doing for a year or so, but eventually I see myself ending up living in some big city within the U.S.
I'm taking this class because I'm interested in technology and the internet. For the past four years I've worked for a women's clothing boutique in Madison where I helped start and run their e-commerce website. I think this class will compliment what I've learned through my experience to hopefully further my knowledge of communication and the internet in general.
