I really enjoyed the YouTube video about the history of the Internet. It was very interesting to learn about how computers and the Internet got their start because it is something that I didn’t know a lot about and definitely something that I take for granted. I had always assumed that the Internet was created so that information could be shared more readily between people, but I did not realize that it was also created for defense purposes. It’s crazy to think that we’ve gone from batch processing, where a computer the size of a room can only handle one task at a time, to a 13 inch laptop that can simultaneously be used to video chat, check your bank statement, and type up a paper. The advancements that have taken place over the last 50 years are incredible and it will be exciting to see what’s to come.
