On YouTube, I chose to watch "Baby Eating Watermelon," which is literally a 35 second video of a baby sitting inside a watermelon, trying to bite the side. And it's got 3.36 million views. The video itself wasn't too entertaining but the comments were sure interesting. Apparently, Billy Mays came back from the dead to comment on this video as well as many people are likening the situation to Soviet Russia where, "watermelon eats you."
While out of these two clips I enjoyed the Hulu one more, I often find myself getting sucked into YouTube for hours watching the suggested videos after whatever music video I wanted to see finished. Usually on Hulu I solely go to watch an episode of something I missed on TV then I'm off the website once the credits start rolling. I'm not saying that Hulu isn't a success, but they should find a way for people to "get lost" surfing their site the way YouTube is able to do to become even more popular.
I feel the same way about youtube 'sucking you in.' Could this be due to the fact that its so accessible via mobile phones? Hulu may be as well - I'm not sure of whether or not there is an app for it, but even so, does the youtube app feature catapult it above hulu?
ReplyDeleteThere is a Hulu app but it's sort of like the Netflix app in the sense that there is no point in having it unless you have the paid service that goes along with it.
ReplyDeleteYouTube definitely had the edge there because I'm pretty sure it came preloaded on both of my last too phones, a Samsung and now an iPhone.
