Blog Post #5: Plants vs. Zombies

Unfortunately, I just wasted about a half an hour playing this seemingly ridiculous game. When I started the game, it seemed too easy, so I thought I'd be done after about the second level. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I found myself playing the game "just to beat the next level." The game seemed juvenile, so I thought that I would not find myself wanting to play more. It reminded me of why I don't really play video games to begin with--they're so addicting!!! I found myself wanting to play more, even though the game wasn't particularly interesting.

As I mentioned, I'm not much of a gamer, so I had been to popcap.com. Once I saw what games the website all had to offer, I found myself jumping around to other addicting games. I won't be visiting this website again until May (when I can afford to spend my time on mindless games). Like everyone else, I had to tell myself to quit playing the game so I could post on the blog, not because I actually wanted to stop. I wanted to continue playing to find out what exciting new plant I got in the next level, or which new protective gear the zombie would be wearing...

One thing I found interesting about the game was that it reminded me a lot of Angry Birds. Yes, I admit it, I am addicted to Angry Birds (another mindless time-passer). There were a lot of similarities between the two (like having to knock off a zombie's hat before you could really start attacking it). It'd be interesting to find out which game was created first.

I have to kind of repeat what everyone else said about Plants vs. Zombies not fitting the networked gaming category because there isn't much interaction on the game. I'm not sure if there would be differences in the full version, but I'm not really willing to pay to find out.
