I understand the intentional idea behind it (or at least think I do), that people are supposed to randomly connect with people around the world with little barriers to what information could be verbally or visually shared. What I wonder is if the creators of Chatroulete ever imagined that their connecting website would end up being so inappropriate and more a joke than a serious medium of communication. Overall, there are no beneficial purposes to using Chatroulette, and this website has made zero advances in internet communication.

Blog Post 3- Chatroulette
I decided to reflect on my limited experience that I've had with ChatRoulette. I was actually abroad in Australia the first time I ever visited the website and had heard of the new "fad" from my friends back in the U.S. They told me how hilarious it was, so a group of my girlfriends and I went to the site.... and after about 3 minutes I never went back! I still don't understand the purpose of the website. You are instantly connected to a random user from around the world (you can preference if the other user has to have a video camera connected or not.) Either the people on the other end are disgusting.... or they are curious young girls trying to figure out what the website is. Either way, the idea that people are supposed to video chat with a random selection of people serves no purpose in my mind.
