It happened as I walked into Madison Fresh the other day - I was greeted with, "Hello sir! Do you, by any chance, have an Iphone?" I looked back, and saw a familiar barcode that could be scanned to "check in." I regretfully said no, and then walked away....only then having it dawn on me that it was, indeed, my very practicum project right before my eyes! I turned around and inquired further...
Turns out, Madison Fresh is now trying to implement the whole "foursquare" dealio for their customers. They are still working out the kinks, and I don't think they really understand the incentive process, but kudos to them for investigating new marketing/promo strategies - especially one that I have a vested interest in!
wow that's really interesting CJGreengoss. I have an iphone but have never heard of foursquare. If places like the Madison Market are integrating it into their system, then I might give it a try! I thought that this might have been just an underground thing but apparently it's pretty popular and worth checking out. Look forward to hearing more!
ReplyDeleteI've always considered getting foursquare but I'm just not sure what you actually do with it. It is something that you're supposed to have "friends" on to share with or is it something that you do more-so for your own personal gain?
ReplyDeleteOne of my roommates uses Foursquare sometimes. I forget where, but there's some restaurant where if you check in there X number of times, they'll give you a coupon. I don't know how they stop you from just checking in and out over and over until you get the coupon, but I guess I haven't really looked into it too much.
ReplyDeleteits really more of a website for personal gain, although you can use it to get recommendations from friends on places. its a people to people kind of interface - especially good for traveling!
