Blog Post 2
I was actually quite surprised while watching that video. I had originally thought that the internet was a result of the ARPANET and its militaristic purpose that was later adapted as a communication tool. I did not know that it was actually a combination of the ARPANET and two other systems developed by different countries, thus making it an international endeavor. Also, because of the different agents involved, I did not know that it was also intended for commercial purposes as well. It is cool to see how these foundations have played out today to encompass all of the possible functions of the internet. I think it is really cool to see how the internet was developed through a distributed network to avoid a nuclear attack. Therefore, the planning that went into the internet is rather impressive. However, based on the video, I don't completely understand the process of "packet-switching."
