Like most people my age (I assume), I've seen plenty of videos on both YouTube and Hulu. Personally, I find myself using YouTube only for sports highlights/videos and the occasional song or music video. Hulu, meanwhile, I've had a more unique relationship with. I used to watch episodes of LOST all the time when the show was still on, but lately, I haven't watched much on Hulu. That's probably due to my overall lack of online TV watching. Most of the TV I watch now comes from either whatever's on my TV or from DVDs.
For some reason, I've always enjoyed watching videos more on Hulu. It's interface seems sleeker to me, and it feels like there are less distractions. I think that also has to do with the content. Complete, network-approved TV shows and movies make up most of the content on Hulu, while mostly anything can be on YouTube. While YouTube's "Suggestions" column on the right side of video pages recommends new videos to watch, I find Hulu's display of "Episodes," "Clips," and "You Might Also Like" to be much more helpful. YouTube seems to flood with you videos, making you feel compelled to stay on the site. Hulu, meanwhile, gives you plenty of options, but it seems as though you're more likely to just end up watching something you're actually interested in or are going to like. Or maybe that's just me.
There's also the issue of interacting with other users on the site. I really don't understand how anyone can enjoy interacting with other users on YouTube, given the crap that's consistently posted in the comment section of videos. Hulu, meanwhile, puts its comments all the way at the bottom and they generally seem to be more bearable. Occasionally, they're even helpful (believe it).
Example:
On Hulu right now, I'm watching the latest episode of The Simpsons. One of the top comments is from "Who Lou," who says, "That was good, but my favorite was the "You shush yourself" at the very end of the credits." He's talking about what he thought of the episode, and what his favorite part of the episode was.
On YouTube, under the top result for "The Simpsons" I found 1:44 clip from an episode. A top comment, from "towergunner": "poor unicorn T_T". Yea, maybe I feel bad for the unicorn, too (I don't)...but I can't stand that kind of typing. Not that Hulu's perfect, but I find myself getting annoyed much less frequently.
