Hey Everyone,

For my Practicum Presentation I decided to look at the social activist group NRDC. My boss if very involved with this organization and she suggested that I take a look at it. The NRDC stands for the National Resource Defense Council and they boast of being one of the most effective U.S. -based environmental action groups. The group includes 1.3 million members that include lawyers, scientists and other professionals.

The organization was founded in 1970 in the United States and since then they have made considerable strides to prolonging our nation and the world's resources. It has been called by the New York Times as "one of the nation's most powerful environmental groups."

NRDC focuses on global warming, endangered wildlife and wild places, creating a clean energy future, revive the world's oceans, stem the tide of toxic chemicals, and accelerate the greening of China. Through awareness, support, and action, the NRDC can accomplish the goals that they set out to do. Its obvious that many of the successes that the NRDC has achieved comes from the awareness that it receives through the Internet. However, because this is a global effort, is the internet as a main source of communication for the organization the most effective? How should they consider the areas of the world that do not have adequate internet services? What should they do to address these types of issues?

  1. The areas that do not have adequate Internet services probably do no have the funds and resources to fix that problem. What should be done in these areas involves sending outreach groups to educate the people on these problems.
