Sadly, very little information came up about myself when I Googled my name. Of course, both Emily and Connor are very common names so this did not help the situation. I tried various combinations, even using my middle name several times, as well as adding Wisconsin and my hometown of Plymouth. The most I got back was my Facebook page listed as the third result, and an article from my hometown's newspaper.
I am not very surprised about the results. I keep a low profile on the Internet, often never using my full name and avoiding signing up for anything unless it is completely necessary. I think this helps my anonymity on the web, which I personally appreciate.
When I worked as an intern for Tom Barrett's campaign, I often did donor research. This involved searching a probably donor on the Internet to find out thier interests so we could better appeal to them when asking for a donation. Of course, everything was public information on the Internet, but you would be incredibly surprised about how much you can find out about one person just from a Google search. Ever since then, I have valued my Internet privacy even more. We live in too digital of an age for people to be careless about what they post about themselves on the Internet.
