Blog Post #4 (Googling Ashley)

I have to admit, I have Googled myself before, so this is not a new phenomenon for me. It sounds like a lot of others have also searched themselves. Interestingly, the search results have changed over the last year or so. Now, the first results are all for social networking sites, such as Facebook and Blogger (strangely enough, because this is the first class I've ever used Blogger for).

Just after these are the results from my high school track meets. I was a big runner in high school, and all the results are stored in a website called wisconsintrackandfield.com. Until last year, these were the first results that showed up, but now they are below Facebook. Apparently my high school glory days are over...

A few of the results are race results from races that I have participated in since high school, such as Crazylegs. I actually found one website with results from gymnastics meets that I participated in when I was younger. The only other results are based on a leadership seminar that I am involved in. I participated in the Wisconsin Leadership Seminar when I was a sophomore in high school, and I've volunteered at the seminar every year since then, so my name shows up in newsletters for it.

The search results that showed up were about what I expected to see. I didn't think I'd find anything from gymnastics, but I expected a lot of the results to be from Facebook, races, and the leadership seminar. I found that when I added my hometown to the search, it narrowed it down quite a bit. I was kind of sad to see my Facebook profile show up, so I'll have to look into my profile settings and change that...
