History of Internet

As I watched the video I was reminded that the Internet is a
fairly recent invention. It is a
mere 50 years old but in those years the progression is unbelievable, giving
users the ability to do just about everything over the Internet. I found it interesting that the
internet developed out of the fear of being attacked by foreign powers and fear of being left behind in research. These reasons led to the
development of a network that allowed scholars and defense personnel to share ideas and
research. And to think that today, not only are ideas
and research being shared over the internet but just about everything, like shopping, paying bills and banking can be
done over the internet. I feel
that it was forever ago that I was “surfing the web” on my family’s Compaq
desktop computer using dial-up with wires everywhere and now I am sitting on
the couch with my computer in my lap and no wires to seen. This is progress! What will the next 50 years bring?
